Unwrapped 2021

2021 has been quite the year for me personally.

It started out like any normal year, with me working a full-time job.

Then in June, I decided to quit that startup job.

I enrolled in a no code course, became more active on Twitter, and allowed myself a few months to just watch and learn, soak in everything that was happening around me.

Then on August 12, I wrote my first Ops Hacks newsletter. Building Ops Hacks in public has really accelerated the pace of my learning and growth.

To recap the past / first 4 months of Ops Hacks, I've prepared an Unwrapped series of stats, inspired by Spotify.

(The irony of sending these "stats" after last week's email on chasing vanity metrics is not lost on me but hey, just having a bit of fun here)

Weekly Emails

I've sent a total of 18 emails including this one you're reading - that's 1 email per week since I started back in August 12, minus the first week of November.

If you remember, I was going through an internal turmoil then as I wasn't getting a lot of traction with the applications and ultimately decided to pivot from blog posts to LinkedIn as the focus of my acquisition strategy.

Daily LinkedIn Posts

You can see the shift in the strategy in the frequency chart above - starting October 29, I posted on LinkedIn every weekday.

Post Views

With the consistency in posting on LinkedIn everyday, the cumulative views on my posts more than 3x'ed from October 29 to today.

Community Members

Most importantly, we have 23 wonderful members that have joined the community since the start. So much more room to grow here obviously - but I'm a lot more excited about all the things we'll be doing for the existing members rather than just growing the headcount.

Thank you all so much for following my journey over the past 4 months. There have been lots of ups and downs, and I appreciate all of your support and encouragement.

If there's one lesson that I really took to heart this year, it's to embrace and enjoy the uncertainty in the journey. And I'm excited to find out what 2022 will bring.

I hope you have a great holiday season. Hopefully you can take some time off to spend quality time with friends and family.

Stay safe and healthy and see you next year!

- Joe
